Should you have a Right over your intellectual property (ideas)

Intellectual property, the most ethereal form of property ever invented has become the most important form of property in the modern world. Ownership of ideas, brands, emotions, and even colours and genes is the most common way people can protect their livelihood. But!

Do we have a right to deprive others of our ideas? Do we want to? Should we share in any benefit garnered from our ideas or discoveries?

Simply put the answer is NO, NO, YES. We do not have a right to deprive others or our ideas, you can chose to deprive others of your insight, but a right implies others should protect your choice even though it may harm them. I cannot imagine any thoughtful person believing they should put themselves out to protect anyone’s selfishness.

And besides we all want to share our ideas. The first thing we want to do when we have a good idea is to tell someone about it. Partly to boast “ how smart am I!” But mostly so people will learn from it and their lives will be better for knowing what we have discovered.

Those who benefit from your discoveries, insights and investigations should reward you, give you a cut, they should use monetary democracy to support those that help them.

Again money-power from intellectual property comes from the beneficiary not demanded by the provider. This is a fundamental of a Fluid Society.

PS: Calling anything imagined “property” is an intellectual bastardisation of imagination. Property has always been about physical things being kept from others. To box our selves, our free thought in such a confined idea cannot be good for humanity.
