Quants: the alchemists of Wall Street (Documentary)

This Dutch documentary covers some familiar ground. The GFC, CDO’s the banking collapse but shows it from the viewpoint of the mathematicians who were blamed for it. I like them because they know about randomness and unpredictability. Their bosses did not.

Watch it for Wall Street and the governments they influence have not changed have not changed. There is still securitisation of mortgages and still massive trade in CDO’s and other derivatives, even moreso than before the GFC. And they are now influencing politics in Europe. (in particular)

I also like that it covers the new development in trading. Hi-frequency trading or hypertrading. Trading or gambling within a second. Massive flow. Massive turnover.
