40 years of music

This is completely self indulgent. I will share with you the favourite songs of my life so far, all 40 years. Its my webzine so thankfully no-one can veto the plan. :-)

Stranglers – Golden Brown

Itchycoo Park- Small Faces (about 1966) which I first heard on radio in the 80′s and taped it.

Tin Soldier by small Faces

Riders on the Storm – the doors (TAFE, Julie and singing at back of class)

The La’s – There she goes. Because I love it (and yes it was the start of Britpop)

1980′s Little Heroes – One Perfect Day (which I always thought were little creatures and thus the beer)

And the only other good song from the 80′s (excepting the Smith’s)

The Stranglers – Golden Brown

Now we get grungy

Pearl Jam – Jeremy

Nirvana – The Man who sold the world ( a Bowie cover)

Now back to Australia;

The Whitlams – no aphrodisiac

Now we get more modern;

The Avalanches – Since I left you:

I struggle now to find songs I loved and had meaning in the last 10 years, but Augie March is both old and new.

A Hole in the Roof

And I am in love with Sarah Blakow

And finally my call for a new world, or rather a most old attack on the old. Insurge, industrial techno, thoughtful brillance.

Speculator

I’ll finish with Nick Drake, River Man. I know – it means nothing and all. Hey I am pushing the idea of Fluidity so….

I know I have left out a lot, and have been harsh on the recent years. It is not that I have not heard it but it does not make impact.

If you disagree make a comment!!!

  1. Great, but what is the piano music playing on the home page? I would like to know and find more like this. Thanks.

    • I’m not sure it runs with the video about half way down. I’ll see what I can find out.

    • I have your answer:

      Music by my friend: Ludovico Einaudi – “Nuvole bianche” with permission.

      It sounds familiar though doesn’t it.

      Also see the Vimeo page for TSO Photography who produced the images.
